Hi! I’m Şehrazat.

I’m a visiting assistant professor of sociology at Grinnell College.

I hold a joint Ph.D. in Peace Studies & Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, where I also received an M.A. in Sociology.

My research examines power and social change, focusing on social mobilization during democratic backsliding and gatekeeping in fields of knowledge production.

As an educator, I equip students with a global perspective and tools to tackle entrenched social problems. I also combat the hidden curriculum through mentorship.
